The husband killed his wife in Ranishankail and surrendered to the police station.

A man named Habibur Rahman, 55, of Hossaingaon village in Ranishankail upazila of Thakurgaon killed his wife Rukhsana Begum, 50.

He came to the police station and surrendered. The incident took place at Habibur's house around 6 am on Wednesday, October 6.

According to police and local sources, Habibur and Rukhsana fell asleep in their room after eating on Tuesday night, October 5. The next day, after the Fajr call, Habibur tried to call his wife Rukhsana at around 6 am. At one stage, he hit his sleeping wife on the head with an iron shovel. His wife Rukhsana died on the spot. Later, Habibur came to Ranishankail police station on a bicycle and informed that he had killed his wife.

 Habibur was arrested after the police confirmed the matter. Later, ASP (Circle) Tofazzal Hossain, OC SM Zahid Iqbal, OC (Investigation) Abdul Latif Sheikh, ASP (PBI) ABM Rezaul Islam, CID Officer Millat Hossain along with allied forces visited the spot. Hosengao UP Chairman Mahbub Alam was also present at the time. The exact reason for Rukhsana's murder

Not known. Neighbors said Habibur had been suffering from mental problems for some time. Police OC SM Zahid Iqbal confirmed the incident. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
