Tragic death of three people including a teenager in a sudden lightning strike in Naogaon

Three people, including a teenager, were killed in a sudden lightning strike at Dhamairhat in Naogaon district. The tragic death took place on Monday, July 19, at around 2 pm.

The deceased have been identified as Abdur Rashid, 62, son of Ashir Uddin of Chak-Umar Dakshinpara village of the upazila, Russell Mahmud, 30, son of Khairul Islam of Altadighi area and Brishti Akhter, 13, daughter of Helal Hossain of Jagdal area.

It started raining on Monday afternoon, locals said. At that time farmer Abdur Rashid was farming in the field next to his house. He died on the spot due to lightning.

And Russell Mahmud also died in a lightning strike while tending his land. Besides, teenage Brishti died in a thunderstorm while returning home with cows from the field in the rain.

Dhamairhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Momin said, "I have received news of the death of three people in the lightning strike." Their bodies have been handed over to the family for burial. A general diary has been kept at the police station in this regard.
