Tragic death of a child when a wall collapsed in Naogaon

A child named Sakibul Hasan Nihal (7) died when a wall collapsed in Atrai of Naogaon district. Three more people were injured in the incident.

The incident took place at Panchupur village of the upazila around 5:30 pm on Saturday (June 19). Sakibul Hasan is the son of Mir Firoz Ali of Nihal village.

According to local sources, Nihal and a few others were passing by the mud wall of Idris Ali's house in Panchupur village around 5.30 pm on Saturday. The earthen wall has softened in the last few days of rain. Four people including Julekha Bibi (55), Anwara (60) and Sakibul Hasan Nihal suddenly collapsed on the spot.

After the locals rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared Nihal dead. The injured Julekha Bibi has been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Others have been given first aid.

Atrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said the police had filed an unnatural death case as no complaint was lodged by the victim's family. One seriously injured has been shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
