I came to his house at the age of 15 to start a family. The marriage took place 25 years ago today. The family was living happily for ten years. 3 girls and 1 boy come to our house. Physical and human torture to demand dowry started after ten years of marriage. I have been enduring this torture for 15 years. Only thinks of children.

Sajeda Begum, 40, wife of Nurnabi of Dasarai village in Paril union of the upazila, said this while wiping her eyes with tears.

Sajeda Begum lodged a written complaint with Niamatpur police station. According to the complaint, Nur Nabi, son of the deceased Bachir Mandal of Dasarai village, married Sajeda Begum for the second time after his first wife died 25 years ago. After living happily for ten years, Sajeda Begum was physically and mentally tortured to demand dowry.

The last time Nurnabi started torturing his wife Sajeda Begum on Saturday, May 18 at 7 pm to demand dowry. When Sajeda Begum was seriously injured, her brother came and rescued her and admitted her to Niamatpur Upazila Health Complex. Sajeda Begum is currently staying at her brother's house.

Sajeda Begum further told the reporter that my husband married a Hindu girl without my permission. Recently in 15/20 days episode he married another girl named Amena Begum and took her to my house. With this my husband Nur Nabi got married five times. On Friday, June 17, he beat me and kicked me out of the house. My husband is currently in jail in connection with the allegations.

On the night of June 20, my Satin Amena Begum set herself on fire, tore her own clothes and filed a false case against my brother and neighbor to harass the accused.

Neighbor Abdul Khaleq said that night Amena shouted from inside the house to save him. When me and more neighbors came out we didn’t see anyone. I can only see the fire in the little straw. I put out that fire with Amena.

Then I brought him to my house. At that time there were no stains or clothes left on his body. He later filed a false case against me and Sajedar's brother for framing or taking Sajedar's case to another sector.

Officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir said, "I have received a complaint from Sajeda Begum." The accused has been arrested and sent to jail. The matter is under investigation.
