JnU Vice-Chancellor Advises Chhatra Dal Leaders and Activists to Follow President Rakib

A fresher reception programme was organized by the Jagannath University unit of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal to welcome the newly admitted students of the 2025–2026 academic session (21st batch) of Jagannath University.

Around 2,100 registered freshmen were welcomed at the programme, which was organized today, Wednesday (September 16, 2026), at the field adjacent to the Science Building of the university.

Education Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Ahsanul Haque Milan, was present as the chief guest, while Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon, Member of Parliament from Madaripur-3 constituency, was present as a special guest.

Thanking the newly admitted students who were present at the programme, Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Raish Uddin said, “Every leader and activist of Chhatra Dal should follow Rakib. Rakib does not maintain any protocol, does not maintain any binding, and does not maintain any emotion; he is crazy for the party. This is an extraordinary and shining example for Chhatra Dal.”

He said, “At present, we see different types of slogans from different political parties. For some, the destination is India; for some, the destination is Pakistan; and for others, the destination is China. But our destination is only one. The leader of the country, Begum Khaleda Zia, has said, ‘My address is this country, this soil.’ We want to move forward by loving this country. Shaheed Zia and the leader of the country, Begum Khaleda Zia, have also worked by putting love for the country and the interests of the country above everything else. Therefore, our slogan will be—‘Neither Delhi nor Pindi, Bangladesh comes first.’”

He further said, “The Bangladesh of tomorrow will be built by you. Therefore, you must uphold the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. If anyone has taught true patriotism, it was Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. He taught patriotism through the declaration of independence, by personally leading on the battlefield, and even through his martyrdom.”

The Vice-Chancellor further said, “Jagannath University was established by the leader of the country, Begum Khaleda Zia. But due to the brutal grip of fascism over the past 17–18 years, our students are now in a destitute condition. He expressed his expectation that the present government would take effective steps to resolve the problems in which the university has been neglected and deprived.”

He further said that since the formation of the present government, during the four months since taking responsibility, he has been continuously communicating with policymakers in the government for the development of Jagannath University. He is making efforts to resolve issues related to the university’s development and the interests of its students. He also urged everyone to remain aware so that no one engages in “credit politics” over these efforts.

At the programme, the speakers urged the newly admitted students to use their university life as an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and leadership. They emphasized the importance of participating in co-curricular activities alongside academic studies and developing themselves as responsible citizens towards the country and society.

The programme was conducted by Shamchul Arifin, Member Secretary of the Jagannath University unit of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, along with other leaders of the organization.

As part of extending greetings and encouragement to the newly admitted students, various prizes were distributed by Jagannath University Chhatra Dal. A concert has been organized in the afternoon as a special attraction of the fresher reception programme.
