July Martyrs’ Day Observed at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome; Tribute Paid to the Fallen

The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, Italy, observed July Martyrs’ Day 2026 with due solemnity and respect on Saturday morning, in accordance with directives from the Government of Bangladesh. The commemorative event was held on the embassy premises and attended by embassy officials and staff, members of the Bangladeshi expatriate community, and representatives of various social, political, and cultural organizations.


The program began with a one-minute silence in honor of the martyrs of the July Movement. Embassy officials then read out the official messages issued by the President and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to mark the occasion.


During the discussion session, speakers paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the July Movement, highlighting their sacrifices and emphasizing that their contributions will remain an enduring part of the nation’s history.


In his closing remarks, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy M. Rokibul Haque expressed profound respect for the martyrs, stating:


“The sacrifices of the martyrs will remain an unparalleled example in the history of Bangladesh. By embracing their ideals, we must all contribute to building the nation from our respective positions.”


He also recalled the significant and honorable role played by the Bangladeshi community in Italy during the July Movement and expressed his sincere gratitude for their contributions.


The program concluded with a special prayer (dua and munajat) seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for the departed souls of the martyrs. The observance of July Martyrs’ Day 2026 at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome ended with tributes, discussions, and prayers held in their memory.
