Husband arrested for killing wife in Naogaon

Members of RAB-5 have arrested the accused Vidyut (44) in the murder case of a housewife named Mohsina Khatun alias Ayana (30) from Dhamirhat of Naogaon district.

He was arrested on Saturday (March 23) in Gopirampur area of the upazila around 3:30 am. The arrested Bidyut is the son of Nazrul Islam of Gangra village and is a fugitive accused in the house wife's murder case. A press release sent from RAB-5 Joypurhat camp at noon informed about the arrest.

According to the press release, on the morning of March 12 this year, Mohsina Khatun alias Ayana, wife of Nurul Amin alias Ershad of Biharinagar village of Umar Union of Dhamirhat Upazila, was found hanging by her neck on a mango tree on the east side of the house. On seeing the matter, the family informed the police and the police recovered the body in the morning.

After the body was recovered, the people of the housewife's father's house did not take it normally. They alleged that deceased Ayana Akhtar used to have disputes with her husband and her husband's family members over petty issues. As a result of this dispute, he was beaten and strangled to death and hung from the mango tree of the house by twisting a rope around his neck, the relatives of the deceased claimed. Later, the deceased's uncle Abdul Hamid filed a murder case against four people including her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law for strangulating her niece Ayana at Dhamirhat police station.

According to the press release, since the case was filed, RAB's intelligence team has continued to arrest the absconding accused Bidyut in the Azahar murder case. Based on their information, a raiding team of RAB-5, CPC-3 Jaipurhat camp arrested accused Bidyut from Gopirampur area of Dhamirhat police station of Naogaon district on Saturday morning. Later, the arrested accused was handed over to the concerned police station for taking legal action.

Dhamirhat Police Station OC (Investigation) Habibur Rahman said that RAB has arrested the fugitive accused of the murder case, Bidyut, and he will be handed over to the court after the legal process.
