Colorful Ekushe Mela in Areccho, Italy: Muslim Community Demands Implementation of Cemetery

  21st February is the glorious day of Bangladesh, Bengali language and Bengali nation. And to present the history and sacrifice of this language as an international mother tongue to the foreigners, a colorful Ekushey Mela was held in Arechcho, one of the expatriate Bangladeshi regions of Italy.

Md. Monirul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh Embassy in Italy, was the chief guest of this Ekushey Mela organized in a local hall in Arechho.

The event was presided over by Russel Ahmed, president of Bangladesh Arechho, Bangladesh Citizens Association, Brahmanbaria, and organized by Zahirul Islam Rajiv and Ifti Tahia, general secretaries of the organization.

Areccho Mayor Alessandro Ginelli, Panel Mayor Lucia Tanti, Migration Councilor Carlettini Giovanna, Provincial and Municipal Councilor Simon Pietro Palazzo, Areccho Community Foundation Director Alfredo Provanza, Haus Thevenin President Sandro Sarri, ISA President Giacomo Chericci were present as special guests. .

The day-long event included painting for children, traditional pita festival and discussions. In the discussion meeting, the president of the organization, Russell Ahmed, highlighted the need for a cemetery for the Muslim community and demanded its implementation from the Italian administration. At this time, Ambassador Md. Monirul Islam said, "If the Italian administration comes forward to implement this cemetery project, the Bangladesh Embassy will also provide assistance. The present city panel mayor Lucia Tanti expressed the intention to work towards the implementation of this project."
