Father sentenced to life imprisonment for raping daughter in Naogaon

The court sentenced the father (41) to life imprisonment for raping his daughter in Porsha upazila of Naogaon district. At the same time, he was sentenced to another three months without labor without payment of a fine of one lakh taka.

On November 30, on Thursday at around 10:30 am, the judge of Naogaon Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal-2, District and Sessions Judge Md. Mehdi Hasan Talukder.

According to Naogaon court sources, on December 25, 2020, the father raped her in the garden next to the unpaved road of Ganeshpur village around 6:30 in the evening while bringing her home from the house of Gena Huzur of Porsha village of Porsha upazila of Naogaon. When the girl came home and told her mother about the incident, she filed a case at Porsha police station. After the investigation, the investigating officer of the case filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court.

After that, the testimony of the case started on May 19, 2022 and the testimony of 10 witnesses was completed on November 14 of this year.

The case was adjourned for judgment after arguments on both sides on Tuesday.

Today Naogaon Women and Children Suppression Tribunal-2 Judge District and Sessions Judge Md. Mehdi Hasan Talukdar sentenced him to life imprisonment with rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh taka for three months without labour. The accused was present when the verdict was announced.
