BNP leader hacked to death in Naogaon

A BNP leader was hacked to death in Naogaon ward by miscreants wearing helmets and masks.

On November 18, Saturday around 9:00 pm, 6-7 miscreants hacked him and ran away at Yad Ali intersection of Naogaon municipality. Later, he died on the way to the hospital, according to Faisal Bin Ahsan, OC of Sadar Model Police Station, Naogaon.

Deceased Kamal Ahmed (54) is the son of Mumtaz Ali of Razakpur area of Naogaon city. He is a member and former president of BNP convening committee of Ward No. 9 of Naogaon Municipality.

Apart from this, Kamal Ahmed was the former president of Naogaon Truck Settlement Association, organizing secretary of cultural organization Nazrul Academy and member of Nationalist Social Cultural Organization (Jasas) Naogaon district committee.

BNP alleges that BNP leaders and activists are being attacked wearing helmets and masks one after another in Naogaon to relieve panic. On the other hand, claiming that it is not a political murder, the police said that the reason behind it is being investigated.

Russell Imam Nawab, son of Kamal Hussain, said that his father was returning home from Santahar railway station area in an auto rickshaw around 9 pm. On the way, when he reached the Yad Ali junction area of Naogaon municipality, six to seven miscreants wearing helmets blocked the way of the auto rickshaw. They alighted the father from the auto-rickshaw and ran away injuring him with sharp weapons.

Locals rescued him with serious injuries and took him to Naogaon Sadar Hospital in an autorickshaw, where doctors declared him dead.

The police have sent the body to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

District BNP Member Secretary Bayezid Hossain alleged that BNP leaders and activists are being targeted and attacked in order to create panic in the ongoing movement. The police administration is also silent.

He said, "Recently five incidents happened in Raninagar, Atrai and Sadar upazilas of Naogaon. But the police could not arrest anyone involved in these incidents. A culture of fear is being created to corner opposing forces. "

In this incident, on November 19, Sunday morning, Russell Imam Nawab, the victim's son, filed a murder case at the police station.

The police sent the body to the Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem at 11 am on Sunday.

OC Faisal bin Ahsan said, "In the preliminary investigation, it seems that it was not a political killing." The reasons for who killed him are being investigated.

The OC also said that CCTV footage of a shop was found near the incident site. It is being tested. We hope that the accused will be identified and arrested soon.
