Londbhand 5 village in momentary cyclone in Faridpur, killed-1

Two hundred houses of Pachangram have been destroyed by heavy rains in Faridpur and a cyclone of the moment. Meanwhile, a pregnant woman died after falling down the house and at least 35 people, including men and women, were injured. The deceased housewife's name is Jharna Akter (21), she is the wife of Shahabuddin Sheikh, a day laborer of Bara Hamirdi village.

Such an incident took place on Thursday night in Bara Hamirdi, Chhota Hamirdi, parts of Ghazaria in Hamirdi union of upazila and Pukhurpar and Ishwardi villages of Azimnagar union. Upazila administration and local residents including two chairman confirmed the truth of this information.

Hearing the incident, Faridpur District Commissioner and other government officials visited the affected area on Friday (October 6) afternoon.

According to local sources, the heavy rains for a few days weakened the plants and houses. Among them, about 2 to 300 houses and innumerable trees of five villages were destroyed by a cyclone in a moment. Trees fell on the Faridpur-Barisal highway and traffic was stopped for about an hour.

In this incident, local Hamirdi UP Chairman Khokon Miah said that in my union there was more damage, trees were uprooted, residential houses were uprooted. However, the amount of loss will be approximately five to six crore rupees. On Friday, local MP Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon visited the scene and consoled the victims and assured to pay the victims from his own funds. He listed me and asked me to take him to his house this evening.

According to Azimnagar union chairman sources, the storm has destroyed nearly a hundred houses in 2 villages of that union, uprooting the tubewell. He said that relief is being given to the victims from the administration and chairman's own funds.

In this regard, Bhanga Upazila Executive Officer Azim Uddin told reporters that about two hundred houses were destroyed in 4 villages of two unions due to heavy rains of several days and night cyclone. A woman died in this incident.

Financial assistance has been given to a brave freedom fighter.

Faridpur District Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar (PAA) Sir visited the affected areas throughout the day on Friday. We have distributed rice, dal, oil among the affected families. I have donated 20,000 taka in cash to the family of the deceased.

District Commissioner Md. Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar PAA, Upazila Executive Officer Azim Uddin, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Masudur Rahman, Bhanga Thana Officer In-charge (OC) Md. Administration officials including Ziarul Islam visited the spot. They immediately distributed daily necessities including 10 kg of rice to the affected families.
