Step brothers are not giving share of father's land, sister complains

Limon Sarkar (Thakurgaon) District Representative

In Pirganj of Thakurgaon, the step brothers have been accused of not giving their sister a fair share of the ancestral land. Sister Arjina Begum complained to the Union Parishad along with the dignitaries of the village but did not get any solution.

Amin Uddin Master of Chandpur village of Khangaon Union of Upazila died in 1991. After that, the property recorded in his name is owned by his second and third wife's sons, Mumtaz Ali, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Altafur Rahman, Maqbul Hossain, Ansharul Islam and Mofizul Islam. But Arjina Begum, daughter of Amin Uddin Master's first wife Latifa Khatun, has been deprived of her fair share of her father's land by her half brothers for a long time. The step brothers spent 22 years in the name of settling the land due to him. He did not get any solution after informing the local dignitaries about the land.

Arjina complains that on informing the local dignitaries, the step brothers get angry and abuse her even more. Threatened not to take possession of the land. Also, her half-brothers have been threatening her with death, claiming that she is not a daughter of the house, and depriving her of all inheritance shares.

Arjina was not satisfied and filed a complaint against her half-brothers in the village court of Khangaon Union Parishad. UP Chairman Sahid Hossain issued a notice to the defendants. But despite receiving repeated notices, Arjina's half-brothers did not attend the Union Parishad. The matter was mentioned by the UP Chairman in an order in the village court. The order said, “The defendants are willfully absent despite repeated summons. Plaintiff Arjina's plea and oral statement show that the allegation is true. As the defendants expressed reluctance to settle, the plaintiffs were advised to seek recourse to higher legal authorities for a fair trial.

Arjina Begum said, 'I want a fair share of my land as the son of Amin Uddin Master. Which is delayed by the step brothers conspiring to eat. I did not get any remedy even when I went to the village court of the Union Parishad. On the contrary, my step brothers have been misbehaving with me and threatening to kill me. I am helpless now.'

In this regard, Mumtaz Ali received the call and cut the line saying that she had called the wrong number after getting the identity of the journalist. However, other brothers Altafur Rahman and Abu Bakr Siddique said, Arzina is our sister. He will get property. But he doesn't come to our house. We can evict that property on one condition, that is to sell the land to us after evicting. Earlier two other sisters sold their share of land to us. If not, he can complain there happily.'

Chairman of Khangaon Union Parishad Sahid Hossain said, "Arzina is the child of Amin Uddin Master." He will get his father's wealth. Due to the non-cooperation of Amin Uddin Master's sons, the matter could not be resolved.
