Bengal Mata's 93rd and Sheikh Kamal's 74th birth anniversaries celebrated with deep respect and love in Italy

The Bangladesh Embassy celebrated the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib and the 74th birth anniversary of her eldest son Sheikh Kamal in Rome, Italy. On Tuesday (August 8) local time, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangmata and Sheikh Kamal, a discussion meeting, special prayers and prayers were organized at the premises of the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, Italy.

Before the start of the ceremony, Md. Shamim Ahsan, Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Italy along with the officials of the embassy, placed wreaths on the portraits of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and the brave freedom fighter martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal.

Later, in the presence of local expatriate Bangladeshis, recitation of the Holy Quran and special prayers were organized in the reception room of the embassy to pray for the peace of the souls of all martyrs and freedom fighters of August 15, including Bangmata, Sheikh Kamal.

Later on this occasion, the embassy officials read the messages sent by the President and the Prime Minister.

The discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of Md. Shamim Ahsan, Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed in Italy and the management of First Secretary Asif Anam Siddiqui. Italy Awami League President Muktijoddha Mahtab Hossain, General Secretary Md Alamgir Hossain, All Europe Awami League Senior Vice President KM Lokman Hossain, Mahila Sampadika Hosne Ara Begum and other leaders of Italy Awami League and affiliated organizations were present as guests on the occasion.

Documentary on Bangmata and Sheikh Kamal was shown in this discussion.

At the beginning of his speech, Ambassador Md. Shamim Ahsan paid deep respect to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and their eldest son Sheikh Kamal. He mentioned the important role of Bangmata as a self-sacrificing fellow traveler of Bangabandhu in the liberation war and post-war country formation and said that Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was a source of inspiration for Bangabandhu throughout his life. On the one hand, as he has taken control of the world, on the other hand, he has shown bravery and political prudence during Bangabandhu's imprisonment.

Reminiscing about the martyred Captain Kamal, the ambassador said that the short life of this versatile and creative genius was rich in his outstanding achievements. Like Bangabandhu, he was vocal and fearless in demanding the rights of the people of Bangladesh. He has worked all his life with the dream of building a modern Bangladesh in sports and culture. Especially the path, ideals and direction shown by him in the journey to raise the sports field of Bangladesh to international standards is still an exemplary model. He also commented that the life and ideals of Sheikh Kamal will always be a source of inspiration to us, especially to the youth.

In their speeches, the guests invited to the event paid their respects to Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib and martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal and highlighted their supreme sacrifice and exemplary lifestyle for the country.

The embassy officials and employees, freedom fighters living in Italy, leaders and activists of Bangladeshi political, cultural and women's organizations including Italy were present in the ceremony.
