An incident of looting took place at a place called Charduair of Tarail-Sadarpur road of Bhanga upazila of Faridpur by cutting trees and creating obstacles on the road and blocking the movement of cattle traders' trucks. At that time, complaints of robbery of about 10 lakh rupees were received from 6 cattle traders in the truck. 3 cattle traders were injured in the attack by the dacoits and the truck carrying them was heavily damaged.The incident took place in a secluded area of local Charduair area in the early hours of Sunday.
On receiving the information, Bhanga police went to the spot and recovered a large quantity of domestic weapons and the truck. Bhanga Thana police arrested a person named Jewel Talukdar (26) on suspicion of involvement in the incident on Monday afternoon.
According to local eyewitnesses and police sources, 6 cattle traders including Miraj Matubbar, Alamin, Momin Sardar, Farid Munsi, Omar Sheikh, Aminul went to Khulna from Darga Bazar area of Nasirabad Union of the upazila to buy cattle. At around 5 o'clock in the morning, when they reached an empty spot on the road in the local Duair area, a group of 20/30 robbers cut down trees on the side of the road and stopped the truck carrying the traders. At that time, they took everyone hostage at gunpoint and ransacked the truck. At this time, the truck driver and 3 businessmen were injured in their attack. Later they looted about 10 lakh rupees for the purchase of cows. At that time, hearing their screams, the locals came running and announced that they were robbers on the microphone of the local mosque. Later, when the local people came running, the robbers threw away a large amount of native weapons and fled away. On receiving the information, the police came to the spot and recovered a large quantity of indigenous weapons including ramda, Chinese axe, chyan, chapati. Raihan, a local furniture dealer, was arrested by the police as Raihan was busy cutting the recovered tree. After arresting him, he confirmed who took the saw from him.
Amiya Majumder, Sub-Inspector of Bhanga Police Station, who came to the scene, told reporters that a large amount of indigenous weapons were seized from the scene. After the investigation, efforts are underway to identify those involved.
In this regard, Bhanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziarul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a person involved in the incident was arrested from that area on Monday afternoon based on a tip-off. The culprits will be arrested soon and legal action will be taken against them.
