Bangladesh Embassy Rome celebrates Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's homecoming day with due dignity

Bangladesh Embassy, Rome celebrated Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 'Homecoming Day-2023' with due dignity.

The program started by placing a wreath on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Then Mr. Md. Al Amin, Economic Counselor of the Embassy and Mr. Asif Anam Siddiqui, First Secretary (Labour) read the message sent by His Excellency the President and the Honorable Prime Minister. In the discussion meeting in the presence of all the officers and employees of the embassy, the speakers highlighted the unforgettable contribution of the father of the nation in the liberation war and subsequent nation building.

In his speech at the special discussion meeting on the occasion of 'Homecoming Day-2023' of the greatest Bengali father of a thousand years, the ambassador said that Bangabandhu led the people of this country to the path of freedom through a long struggle. In Bangabandhu's absence, the liberation war continued, keeping him in the leadership seat, and in Bangabandhu's absence, the government in exile conducted the war directed by him and gifted the country with freedom and sovereignty. He also said that although the final victory was achieved after a nine-month armed liberation war against the Pakistani troops on December 16, 1971, the Bengali nation tasted the full taste of victory with Bangabandhu's homecoming on January 10. He said that the entire nation was eagerly waiting to give Bangabandhu a hearty welcome that day, and millions of people, overcome with joy, gave him a spontaneous welcome from Dhaka Airport to the Race Course Maidan. At this stage, he quoted Bangabandhu's classical speech to the then millions of people gathered at the Race Course Maidan, “My life's quest has been fulfilled today. My golden Bengal today is an independent and sovereign state”. Finally, in honor of the Father of the Nation, the Honorable Ambassador resisted all domestic and foreign conspiracies and inspired by the spirit of the Great Liberation War, unitedly called on everyone to play an effective role in the construction of the father of the nation's dream of 'Golden Bangladesh' and developed and prosperous 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041.

The meeting ended with a prayer asking for the forgiveness of the souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, all the martyrs of his family, and all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the country.
