Victory Money Transfer and Travels of Barcelona received the International Migrants Day Medal

"International Migrants Day" was celebrated with due dignity on December 19 at the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid, capital of Spain. The first ever “International Migrants Day Medal” was awarded to the two leading institutions in sending remittances from Spain to Bangladesh in a function organized on the occasion at the Embassy Auditorium. This year's theme of the day was, "I will be good, I will keep a good country, I will build Bangladesh through legal means of expatriate income."The speeches of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment and Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment were read out during the discussion. A large number of members and leading personalities of the Bangladeshi community living in Spain participated in the event. On the occasion, Mohammad Sarwar Mahmud, Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Spain, NDC Spain extended warm greetings to all the national and international individuals and organizations involved in the migration program and welfare along with the migrant workers living in Spain, their well-wishers and family members. Deputy Head of Mission, Abdur Rauf Mondal, Commercial Councilor Redwan Ahmed were present on the occasion. First Secretary (Labor Wing) Muntasimul Islam conducted the event. All European Bangla Press Club General Secretary Bakul Khan gave a congratulatory speech.
The ambassador also said, "We got independent Bangladesh under the outstanding leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation. Under the leadership of his privileged daughter, Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is moving ahead in the journey of development at an unstoppable pace. Expatriate workers have a significant contribution in the progress of economic prosperity of the country. About 60,000 expatriates living in Spain are constantly strengthening our foreign exchange reserves through their remittances.” The ambassador called on everyone to work together to keep the country's economy strong by facing the challenges of the global recession caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the Ukraine war. The ambassador added, “The rate of legal remittances from Spain is increasing significantly every year. 64.70 million US dollars were legitimately remitted from Spain in the fiscal year 2021-22.”
It is pertinent to mention that the “International Migrants Day Medal” has been launched by the Embassy from this year to encourage and incentivize sending remittances to the country legally. This year, top remittance senders Amanah Money Transfer and Victory Money Transfer & Travels bagged first and second place respectively. The Ambassador congratulated them for this success. Owners of Victoria Money Transfer Rajeev Hassain and Jahangir Alam said in a joint statement that this award is our honesty and loyalty, we share this joy with all the remittance warriors.
He praised Rajib Hossain, Jahangir Alam and Nahid Bhuiyan, the proprietor of Amanah Money Transfer.
Emphasizing on responsible behavior and awareness in safe and legal immigration process in Europe, the Ambassador also discussed various service activities undertaken by the Embassy for the welfare of expatriates.
