In Naogaon, a teacher beat 20 female students with tree branches when they came to school wearing hijab.

It has been alleged that 20 students were beaten with tree branches for coming to school wearing hijab in Mahadevpur of Naogaon district. Amodini Pal, a teacher at Daul Barbarpur High School in the upazila, did this at noon on Wednesday (April 7). In this incident, the guardians got angry in the area.

Hundreds of parents went to the school at noon on Thursday (April 6) to protest. They vandalized the school furniture without finding the accused teacher. Upon receiving the news, two police vans reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Mahadevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azam Uddin Mahmud said the matter was very sensitive. He called for responsible behavior in publishing news in this regard. However, he said that no case has been registered in this regard.

Sadia Afrin, an eighth-grade student who was tortured, said that while standing in line after the national anthem at school on Wednesday, acting headmistress Amodini Pal beat them with eucalyptus branches, asking why they came to school wearing hijab. The teacher informs them that there will be no curtain in the school. Come on. Go home and wear a burqa. When you go to Mahadevpur Bazaar, you will have curtains. At school, he will actually drop his head covering. 'He pulled the students to remove their hijab. He even took off the masks of those who wore only masks without hijab. He threatened, "If you wear hijab and mask from tomorrow, you will be beaten and your back skin will be removed."

Sadia further said, “Some of the students in the line came to him and started beating him, but the stick broke. Among others, at least 20 students including 10th class students Oishi, Sumaiya, Tithi, Lucky, 9th class Mona were beaten.

Sadia's mother Sabera Begum said that her daughter came from school crying and told her that she had beaten Madam for wearing hijab. "Our daughters have grown up," she said. They will do the screen. You will learn politeness by going to school. Where is the safety of our children if they fight like this without teaching it? ’He demanded the removal of the accused teacher in the interest of their children’s safety.

Miriam Nesha, mother of 10th class student Umme Sumaiya Akhtar, said the same. When her daughter Sumaiya and her classmate Tithi went to school after the national anthem, teacher Amodini Pal instructed teacher Badiul Alam to beat them for the crime of wearing hijab. On being instructed, Badiul beat Master Sumaiya and Tithi with tree branches. After this incident, her daughter came home without class and started crying.

The accused teacher called Amodini Pal on her mobile phone to find out the truth of the incident. Later he did not receive. Another accused, Badiul Alam, said teacher Amodini Pal had beaten the students while they were wearing hijab. He also claimed that he did not kill anyone.

The headmistress of the school Dharani Kant Barman admitted the incident and said that the teacher Amodini Pal had beaten 5/6 students for wearing hijab in the school. On the day of the incident, he went to Rajshahi Board of Education for school work. He came to the school on Thursday morning and found out about the matter. However, no action was taken against the accused teacher till this report was written in the afternoon. He also said that he would show him about this.
