The body of an autorickshaw driver was recovered from the side of the road in Naogaon

Police have recovered the body of Hasan Ali, 18, a battery-powered autorickshaw driver from a roadside paddy field at Mahadevpur in Naogaon district.

The body of his youth was recovered from the side of the road near Mahishabathan intersection around 8 am on Sunday, February 20. However, police confirmed that his autorickshaw was not found at the spot. The deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, son of Ahad Ali of Khoddakalna village under Khajur union of Mahadevpur upazila.

According to the victim's family and police sources, he left home on Saturday in a battery-powered autorickshaw to rent a car as usual. When he did not return home at night, the family members searched everywhere possible. But he was nowhere to be found.

Locals informed the police station when they saw the body of a young man lying on the side of the road at Mahishabathan intersection of the upazila around 8 am on Sunday. Upon receiving the news, Mahadevpur police recovered the body at the spot. However, police confirmed that his autorickshaw was not found at the spot.

Mahadevpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Abul Kalam Azad said it was initially thought that Hasan might have been killed after the autorickshaw was hijacked.

His body was sent to Naogaon Hospital Morgue for autopsy after initial preliminary inquest report. A case has been filed in the incident.
