Human bonding and protest against the torture of journalists in Pirganj

  Limon Sarkar (Thakurgaon) District Representative: 

Pirganj correspondent of Dainik Manab Kanth, Latifur Rahman Limon and Junaid Kabir, correspondent of Thakurgaon of Daily Sangaon, held a human bond and protest rally in Pirganj of Thakurgaon to protest the torture of journalists across the country.

An hour-long human bonding and protest rally was held in front of the Bangabandhu Mural at the East Crossroads of the city on Saturday at the initiative of Peerganj Press Club.

 Pirganj Press Club President Joynal Abedin Babul addressed the gathering, Thakurgaon Press Club President Mansoor Ali, General Secretary Lutfar Rahman Mithu, Bangladesh Communist Party District General Secretary Advocate Abu Sayem, Thakurgaon and TV Journalist Association President Rafiqul Islam Rohan, Pirganj Press Club Vice President Prothom Alo representative. Kazi Nurul Islam, Former President Ittefaq Representative Meher Elahi, Senior Journalist Deepen Roy, Vice President of the Press Club Mamunur Rashid, Samakal Representative Mokaddes Hayat Milan, Jankanth Representative Mosharraf Hossain, AH Liton Representative of Dainik Sankan Patrika, President of Ranishankoil Press Club Mobarak Ali, General Secretary Bilpab , Haripur Upazila Press Club General Secretary Mizanur Rahman, Baliadangi Upazila Zayzaidin Representative Moshiur Rahman, Human Rights Activist Rozi Akhtar, Pirganj Press Club Organizing Secretary Tarek Hossain, Bhorer Kaggi Representative Delwar Hossain Dulal Sarkar, Upazila Press Club Vice President Noor Nabi, Khola Kaggi Representative Badal Hossain, Haripur Journalist Zainul Abedin, injured Reporter Limon's mother Lucky Begum, Upazila Students Union President Shubo Sharma and others. The program was moderated by Pirganj Press Club Joint General Secretary Bishnupad Roy.

 Journalists in the rally said that while talking about oppressed people, journalists are constantly being subjected to various forms of torture including assault cases.

The journalist leaders demanded immediate legal action against those who attacked the journalists, providing protection to journalists in the performance of their professional duties and repealing the Digital Security Act. Journalists from 5 upazilas including Thakurgaon district were present in the rally. Later, a protest march passed through various streets of the city and ended at the Press Club.
