Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Bhanga (Faridpur) Representative>
Eleven shops were gutted in two separate fires in front of Eidgaon Madrasa and the main road on Bhangaya Bazar Par in Faridpur. The traders claimed that at least five crore rupees has been lost due to this.
According to the affected traders, two shops caught fire on Friday (July 1) at around 12:15 pm and nine more shops at 5 am on Saturday.
Affected traders in the market said they closed their shops and returned home as usual. Later, at around 11.45 pm, when other traders in the market reported the fire on their mobile phones, they rushed to the market. At that time he saw the last of his life burning in the fire. Members of the fire service made hundreds of attempts at night in the event of a fire but could not save the property of the traders. An unnamed businessman said firefighters rushed to the scene after hearing of the blaze at night, but firefighters were having trouble controlling the blaze as the power office was delayed.
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at 5 am on Saturday (July 2) in the Sweet and Fruit Lane, the main road of Bhanga Bazar, just 100 yards away from the scene of the night fire. Saha sweet shop owner and hotelier Rabiul and other shopkeepers started shouting fire when they saw a fire rising from a sweet shop in the morning. They later informed members of the local fire brigade. Firefighters rushed to the scene, but the flames engulfed the house one by one. The smoke of the fire turned the whole area into darkness. As time was running out, pedestrians came forward one by one to put out the fire with the traders. At one stage, members of the fire brigade managed to bring the fire under control by conducting an hour-long operation, but Saha Mitra, Akhtar and Bismillah sweet stores, Saidul's fruit shop, Zahid's tea shop, Rabiul and Arzur hotels, a confectionery, Arzur electronic shop of Eidgaon Madrasa and Dr. Zahid's drug store was burnt to ashes.
Zafar Ahmed, station officer of Bhanga Fire Service, told reporters that the fire started from an electrical short circuit at two separate places.
"One of our officers was injured when he was electrocuted while giving water, so there was a delay in bringing the fire under control," he said. However, the fire spread rapidly as the shops were mixed and frequent. At the moment, the amount of damage cannot be said without investigation.
Bhanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Azim Uddin Rubel said, "I visited the spot immediately after receiving the news." We will distribute corrugated iron and some cash among the affected shopkeepers. If there is any suspicion among the shopkeepers about hostile or destructive fires, there will be an opportunity to sue.
Going to the ground, it can be seen that hundreds of people are crowding the places of the shops which have been burnt to ashes.
