Historic 7th March celebrations in Guimara

Today is the historic 7th of March. A unique day in the history of the great freedom struggle and liberation war of Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman stood in the crowd at Dhaka Racecourse Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) and called for the freedom struggle of Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu said in a thunderous voice that day, "This time the struggle is for our liberation, this time the struggle is for freedom." At the call of Bangabandhu, the freedom struggle of the Bengalis turned into a people's war.

On the occasion of this day, national and party flags were hoisted at Guimara Upazila Awami League office in Khagrachhari, wreaths were laid at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and milad mahfil was celebrated on March 7.

Also present on the occasion were Guimara Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Khagrachhari District Council Member Memong Marma, Upazila Vice Chairman Jharna Tripura, Upazila Awami League Senior Vice President Abu Taher, Guimara UP Chairman Nirmal Narayan Tripura, Information and Publication Publication Secretary Palash Chowdhury, Union Awam UP member Janardhan Sen and others.
