A 55-year-old man has been arrested in Naogaon for raping a five-year-old child

Police have arrested a 55-year-old man named Mozammel Sheikh for allegedly raping a 5-year-old child in Naogaon district's Atrai upazila.

The arrested Mozammel Sheikh Moza is the son of late Ramzan Ali Sheikh of Bhar-Tetulia village in Bhopara union of Atrai upazila.

Police sent him to Naogaon Jail on Tuesday afternoon, September 6.

Atrai police sources said that the child was playing with his classmates near his house on Sunday afternoon. The child's mother was working in the house. At that time, the neighbor Mozammel called her home and raped her instead of paying for food. When the child screamed, he was released.

When the family members came to know about the matter, the mother of the child lodged a written complaint with the Atrai police station on Monday evening.

Police arrested Mozammel Sheikh from his home in Atrai police station on Monday night after the allegations.

The victim's mother said the girl looked very weak when she came home. Besides, she was crying because she felt severe pain while urinating. Then when I asked the girl, she told me about it.

Atrai Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said the child's mother had lodged a complaint under the Rape Act.

Accused Mozammel Sheikh has been arrested and sent to Naogaon Jail. After the initial treatment, the child's statement has been kept in the custody of the police station for recording.
