Former Manikchhari member Abul Kashem's wife killed in truck crash in Fatikchhari

Fatema Begum, 55, wife of Abul Kashem, a former member of Manikchhari Mahamani in Khagrachhari, died in a road accident at Fatikchhari.

The incident took place in Bariarhat area under Fatikchhari municipality on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari highway around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (January 25).

Witnesses said the woman was crossing the road in Bariarhat area when she was hit by a speeding truck (Chittagong Metro D11-0736) coming from the opposite direction. He died on the spot. Various parts of the body including the skull of the deceased were crushed in the accident. The fatal truck driver, on the other hand, fled the scene immediately. Later the police came and seized the truck.

The deceased was identified as Fatema Begum, wife of Abul Kashem, a former member of Manikchhari Mahamani in Khagrachhari district. His father's house is Fuljana Bari in 6th ward of Fatikchhari municipality. He has 6 daughters and 4 sons.

It may be mentioned that in the last two months, more than 10 road accidents have taken place near Chittagong-Khagrachhari highway. At least 3 people lost their lives in the accident.
