The incident took place at Dahisara Islamia Dakhil Madrasa in the upazila on Tuesday (July 12).
At that time, about 11 locks of a building of the institution were opened and some valuable items were taken away, said Madrasa Super Enamul Haque Khan.
Upon receiving the news, Nagarkanda Police Station OC Habil Hossain visited the spot.
Al-Amin Mollah, 29, son of Atiyar Mollah of Dahisara village, was posted as a night watchman at the institution on June 1.
As per the rules, various incidents have started among the locals due to such incidents while performing security duties in the organization at night.
Al-Amin, the night watchman in charge of the incident, said, "I went to pray at night." This work has been done during this period. I know nothing more than that.
Enamul Haque Khan, superintendent of the organization, said that about 11 locks of the building were opened at night and some valuables of the building were stolen. Al-Amin, the organization's night watchman, was in charge of security that night.
Arifur Rahman Pathik Talukder, president of the board of directors of the institution, said Dahisara Islamia Dakhil Madrasa is a reputed institution in the area. The incident took place after Al-Amin, the night watchman of the organization, went to perform Fajr prayers at night. The same thing happened in 4 more houses in the area that night.
Nagarkanda Police Station OC Habil Hossain said police had visited the spot and legal action would be taken after investigating the theft.
